The Best Place to stay this MCQP!
From Flower Power in 2010 to Maid In China in 2011, MCQP has become the kaleidoscopic yearbook of one of South Africa’s most notorious gay events. And just as MCQP has become an annual gay-scene necessity, so has The Glen become a queer-party must.
“World-class is what they are coming for,” comments Chris Hattingh, Director for The Glen in Sea Point, Cape Town. The sheer size of MCQP and the excitement that grips Cape Town over this time period has pinked MCQP on the international gay map of events, comparable to the Mardi Gras in Sydney, London Pride and the major themes in San Francisco.
“And ‘world class’ is what The Glen is notorious for. Evident by the guests The Glen accommodates, Australians, the English, Brazilians and even some Americans, there is no doubt that the ‘Glen Experience’ is indeed world-class,” says Hattingh.
“It’s a matter of combining world class accommodation to a winning gay entertainment formula,” believes Hattingh. Being a four-starred boutique hotel, 2010 saw The Glen host their own Speedo Auction and Swimmer’s Gala in conjunction with MCQP.
“To keep it simple, all you would really need is to fuse your world-class entertainment with your world-class accommodation. Keep your eyes peeled for the launch event of The Glen’s renovated sections, their annual new year’s pool party.”
As part of their gay party summer experience, Chris and his team have included MCQP into their “Glentinirary” arsenal. The weekend of December the 16th will again see thousands of pink holiday goers flocking to this year’s MCQP themed event, ‘Maid in China’. As the much loved hot spot for the more male-male-inclined clientele, The Glen is sure to be one of the best places to stay this MCQP.
“Well, if you add another 2 standard rooms, 6 deluxe rooms, a penthouse and a new pool and outside area to an already existing phenomenal hotel, where else would you want to stay this MCQP?” concludes Hattingh. |
